Afton Mountain is split by Rockfish Gap where two renowned roads converge: Milepost 1 of Skyline Drive and the end of the Blue Ridge Parkway. A wind gap uncommon in the otherwise fairly uniform Blue Ridge Mountains, the top of Afton is where westerly winds can push through.
